Company certified ISCC-EU

Prutul holds ISCC-EU sustainability certificates for cereal trading and oil production, granted by SGS Germany, in accordance with the RED requirements (Renewable Energy Directive 2009/28/EC).

SUSTAINABILITY or “sustainable development” is a concept which promotes the responsible development of society, without exhausting the available resources and without destroying the environment, so as not to compromise the possibilities of the future generations to cater for their own needs. The world environment conference in Rio de Janeiro (1992) gave special consideration to this concept, which implies establishing a balance between economic growth, environmental protection and identification of alternative resources.

ISCC” is a certification system applied globally, which allows for the differentiation between sustainable and non-sustainable products, including in terms of greenhouse gas emissions in various stages of the value chain. In order to qualify for this certification system, bioliquids and biofuels should allow for a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by at least 35%.

ISCC, is a legally registered association, being responsible for the ISCC system. All those involved in the production, processing and use of sustainable biomass can join this association.

Sustainability certificates are issued by independent certification bodies, upon successful completion of the relevant audits. The certificates confirm that the holder complies with the RED requirements (Renewable Energy Directive 2009/28/EC).

In order to participate in the ISCC certification system, companies must fulfill 3 categories of criteria::

  • Sustainability criteria on the cultivation and production of biomass
  • Requirements for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and related calculation methodology
  • Requirements for traceability and mass balance, in order to provide thorough evidence on the origin of the biomass.
